Software Available Here and on Campus

When you purchase a computer, you get the operating system and sometimes a bundle of programs to entice you to buy. The software you need to work or study at the University may not come with the computer but may be available to you as a member of the University of Iowa community. Here are places to find out what software is available and with what restrictions.

CSS download page. If you have an engineering computer account, you can connect to this page to download software that we have modified for use in the college.

ITS runs the Campus Software Program that makes software available campus-wide. Go to ITS software download to find and download software that is free to students, staff, and faculty. Other software is available for UI students and UI faculty/staff working at home; note that not all the software listed here is free. Another piece of the ITS software service is software for department purchase and use.
