The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the oldest engineering society in the United States . Formed in 1852, ASCE now has a national membership of over 115,000 professional members and over 15,000 students. ASCE seeks to enhance the quality of life throughout the world by advancing professional knowledge and improving the civil engineering (CE) practice.

The University of Iowa student chapter was created to supplement the education of civil engineering students with intercollegiate competitions, volunteer work, guest speakers and field trips. Furthermore, our chapter provides on opportunity for students to become involved within their community as well as to develop relationships with other students and faculty. There are many opportunities for involvement and all majors are welcome.
